Mission Statement

The Lackawanna Housing Development Corporation exists to promote the development and restoration of residential dwellings through programs that support construction, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of such units so that residents of low and moderate income can access safe and sanitary housing conditions.

LHDC strives to promote a stable and diversified economy so that residential development proceeds soundly in coordination with the growth of industrial, commercial, mass transportation, and public services within the City of Lackawanna.

Our Story

The Lackawanna Housing Development Corporation (LHDC) was founded in 1991 to assist and benefit the residents within the Lackawanna, NY, community. The organization has focused on providing three primary services that consist of supporting homeowners and prospective home buyers. They facilitate state funded home buyer acquisitions for low income residents, administer state funded home improvement programs for qualified homeowners, and administer state and county funded first time homebuyer programs for low to moderate income residents; including educational programs and financial assistance.

The LHDC also partners with Habitat for Humanity Buffalo and the City of Lackawanna to support affordable housing development within Lackawanna through acting as a developer for new housing projects.
